A retreat is not a holiday. It is not a conference. It is not a wellness weekend.

It is time set apart — deliberately, and with intention.

What you do with that time is largely up to you. What we do is hold the conditions that make it possible.

Individual Retreat: Come Alone. Leave Different.

An individual retreat at Lake House of Prayer is unstructured by design. There is no agenda you must follow, no group dynamic to navigate, no performance required.

You arrive. You are shown to your room. The silence begins.

Days follow a gentle rhythm — morning prayer, Mass, meals at fixed times, and the rest of the hours entirely your own. Spiritual direction is available if you want it: a trained director to sit with you, listen without judgment, and help you hear what you may have been too busy to notice.

Some guests come with a specific question — a decision to make, a wound to examine, a season of life to understand. Others come simply exhausted, with no agenda beyond stillness. Both are welcome. Both leave with something.

What’s included: Full board accommodation — breakfast, lunch, and dinner, locally sourced and served on a fixed schedule. Daily Mass from 6:45–7:15 on weekdays. Access to prayer and quiet spaces throughout the grounds. Spiritual direction available in Swahili or English upon request. Optional yoga sessions available at TZS 20,000 per session.

Rate: TZS 60,000 per person per night (full board)

Day retreat: TZS 10,000 per person (includes lunch)

Group Retreat: Silence, Together

A silent group retreat is one of the more demanding and rewarding things a community can do together. It requires trust — in each other, in the process, and in the silence itself.

Lake House of Prayer accommodates groups for both day and overnight retreats. Whether you come as a parish, a religious community, a diocesan group, or an organization seeking something more grounded than a standard team retreat, we can hold the space for it.

You are welcome to come with your own facilitator or arrange facilitation with us around a specific theme — discernment, leadership, vocation, grief, life transitions, and others. Our facilitators do not charge separately for this. It is part of what we offer.

Capacity: Up to 35 guests on a day basis. Up to 18 guests overnight — 12 in private rooms, with shared accommodation available for groups larger than 12.

Deposit: Groups of 4 or more are requested to pay a 50% deposit at least one week before arrival.

Rate: TZS 60,000 per person per night (full board)

Day retreat: TZS 10,000 per person (includes lunch)

Partial scholarships and group discounts available upon request.
